Keepsakes?

I have been presented with the Keepsake Blog Award by Renee. Albeit, I’m not sure I’m worthy of such an award; however I’m taking it.

The rules are…

1. Post a funny or sweet keepsake that tells something about you.

O.K., this is a tough one for me since I’m not an overly sentimental person and I can’t quite explain why – I was loved as a child. In fact I was an only child, so perhaps not having to share anything with anyone is the reason for my not being sentimental or overly attached to one particular item or perhaps it’s the fact that both my mother and grandmother had enough items of sentimental “value” to bring the country out of recession on their own. Perhaps having to dust around so many of their “sentiments” while growing up has made be bitter? Could I be shallow? No, I’ve just never found the need to be attached to one item in particular.

On the other hand, there are “places” that hold sentimental value to me. I am extremely fond of vacations and one vacation destination in particular – Bonaire. Bonaire is an island that once you have been; you have an overwhelming desire to return time and time again and if you don’t feel this desire – to put it simply, there must be something wrong with you.

The thought of this place brings a smile to my face and warmth to my heart. When I close my eyes, I can hear the surf rolling onto the shore, feel the wind and sun on my face and after a dive, taste the salt on my lips, followed the sound of a nice cold Brights being cracked open. Ahhh…

Who knew - I might just be sentimental after all, but not in the “typical” way. I’m fine with that – at least I don’t have to dust my sentiments…

2. Pass the award on to 10 other bloggers that you think are keepers.

All of the bloggers I follow are keepers or I wouldn’t be following them, so I’m not going to tag anyone with this award, but feel free to present it to yourself and if you do, leave me a note so I can check it out.
