Random Thoughts - No Rants Today...

Why am I expected to stay at work for a full 8 hours when I can accomplish everything I need to in 3 hours? I can hardly wait to turn the calendar page to February.   January has an ugly picture and I’m so over the woman in the photo wearing 80’s jeans. Exercise always seems like a great idea at 3:00 in the afternoon when I’m at work.   Not so much come 7:00 p.m. when I finally have some time to exercise. My jewelry business is doing very well considering it’s January and everyone is typically broke from the Christmas season. I wish my jewelry business paid as well as my full-time job. I have so many personal projects on the go, I could really use a few more hours in the day to work on the fun stuff. I’m mid way through the book Inferno by Dan Brown and I’ve loved all of his books up until this one.   It’s too slow for my liking and in my opinion contains way too much unnecessary fluff. I’ve noticed that it’s staying lighter a little longer in the evenings...

In My Opinion - Worst Book in History of Books...

Image
I just finished reading skimming the worst book in the history of books.  It was even worse than most Canadian history books.  Half way through the book – the history of the fur trade in Canada was starting to look VERY appealing to me.   The description provided by Amazon was intriguing, so I thought I would give it a “go”.  Never ever have I bothered to check the page count of a book.  This is one mistake I will never make again.  It was 912 pages of mind numbing boredom.  Lesson learned:  just because it says “paperback” doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to be an easy read.  I should mention that it wasn’t a standard paperback either – it measured 8.5 x 11 – it was HUGE!  Which means those 912 pages contained a lot of crap. I’ve never given up on finishing a book I’ve started – unless you can count “Darwin’s – Origin of the Species”, but I don’t count that one since it was WAAAAYY beyond my lev...

Damn You Home Depot and More Rambling...

I went to Home Depot on my lunch hour (or two) to buy some stain for my deck. Can you guess what I’ll be doing this weekend? I don’t know why I insist on punishing myself, but you should know that I loathe Home Depot. There is something about that store that gives me the overwhelming urge to use my cart as a battering ram and I can’t quite figure out why. Is it because the store is so cluttered, with 80% of the stuff being located on shelves over my head? Is it because I can find what I’m looking for 80% of the time or could it be that when I ask for assistance, I’m made to feel inferior to the old male chauvinist assisting me? Most likely, it’s a combination of everything I’ve just mentioned, plus the whole self-serve checkout process that doesn’t work 80% of the time and it ends up taking me longer than if I had waited in the cashier line. Why I am punished for wanting to be self-sufficient? To hell with you Home Depot… The security alarm has been screeching here at work for ...
