Life is Like a Bowl of Jello...Green Jello...

Image
Sorry in advance for my ranty-ness of late, but here at work, I have a lot to rant about and this blog is a way of venting because honestly - my husband just doesn't listen...now or ever... (yep, more ranting)...

From the moment I arrived at work this morning, chaos ensued. It is interesting to me how one person can manage to throw others into complete panic mode for no particular reason. It’s just like Jello – when one portion starts to jiggle, the whole bowl will soon follow and pretty soon there’s a mess to clean up.

I promise next week will be better...

Support for Haiti, a T-Shirt For You…

Image
Threadless T-Shirts is offering you this funky and fun t-shirt for a mere $10 and the best part is that 100% of the proceeds are being donated to the American Red Cross Haitian Relief and Development Fund. Can you say Win, Win?

“Men anpil chay pa lou”
(Translation: Many Hands Make the Load Lighter”)

In my opinion, you can never have enough t-thirts and what better way to support this worthwhile cause? I’ve purchased one for each member of my family. Why not do the same for yours?

My son is a t-shirt junkie and I've purchased many, many t-shirts from Threadless and can attest to their quality and durability. Go here, to get yours now...

It’s that time again…What now? You may ask...

I’ve planned yet another holiday. For those of you that have been following for sometime; you know that I LOVE to travel. For those that are new, let me tell you – I LOVE to travel. It's not something I take lightly. I need holidays. They are what I live for and most definitely the reason why I work at a sucky job.

Now before you start thinking “boy, does she ever have a lot of vacation time”, let me explain - I don’t.I get 3 weeks vacation per year and I usually reserve 2 of these weeks for actual vacations – one in the Fall, one in the Spring. The remaining week is used up on things like annual visits to the doctor, dentist, optometrist or just because “I feel like being a slacker day”.Ummm, on second thought, I tend to call in sick on those days I feel like slacking it because let’s be honest, I don’t tend to plan ahead…

Another misconception that I would like to clear up is that “boy, she must be super rich to be able to jet set lik…

Random Tuesday Thoughts

Image
Tonight was supposed to be my first night of my Jewelry Making/Silversmithing Course, but I received a phone call advising that it had been canceled. *boo, hiss* Now that my Tuesday nights are free, I have no other choice but to spend them with my family and let’s not forget, this quality time will also include the ever present nagging my son to do his homework and at my husband to turn the television volume down. *sigh*I’m heartbroken and feel totally helpless every time I hear a news report about Haiti. People are dying in the streets, while there is an apparent “bottle neck” in relief supplies getting released from the airport. What’s the hold up here? Are we talking about the need for food, water and medical supplies to clear customs first? Am I the only person that doesn’t care about American Idol and the fact that Simon Cowell is leaving after this season? Other shows I don’t care about - The Bachelor, The Biggest Loser or Dancing With The Stars. Especially, D…

Photos by Me....Yes, Me!

Image
As you may know, I'm not typically the photographer in our family. I usually leave the photo taking to J; however on our trip to Bonaire in November, I decided to pick up his spare camera and give it a try, which at first he wasn't willing to share. I was able to persuade him to change his mind - eventually. It might of had something to do with my non-stop whining, but whatever...

Here are a couple of my shots...

Kite Surfer

Coral Beach

I'm pretty happy with how these turned out, so you never know - I might just make it a hobby. Although I still need to rely on J to get them from the camera to the computer. Yeah, I'm challenged that way, but honestly I prefer to call it disinterested...

Ignorance is Bliss...

I’ve traveled a bunch and each and every trip is an adventure to me. I love everything about traveling -from the sights, the sounds, the cultural differences and even the language barrier.

There is something so refreshing about not being able to fully understand everything that is going on around me. Not that I’m an eavesdropper, but sometimes you just can’t help but overhear conversations happening around you. The worst case scenario for me is being surrounded by annoying high pitched whiners or those that love to complain about EVERYTHING. You know the ones…

I find this to be very distracting and sooner or later, it starts to grate on my nerves and then I become consumed with trying to silence these individuals with my “laser beam death gaze”, but since I haven’t perfected it, I’m forced to listen to mindless banter for hours on end.

However; when visiting locations where English is not the first spoken language, whining in my vicinity is totally acceptable because regardless o…
