Greetings from Bonaire! Bon Bini...

Hello Everyone! J and I arrived on the redeye this morning and landed safely in Bonaire around 5:00 a.m. It took a grand total of 15 minutes to clear customs and get our luggage and then another 2 hours to get our rental car. As you might not realize the pace in Bonaire runs a little slower than glacial, but it's all good - I'll adjust. Welcome to the islands!

After a quick breakfast, we headed to our dive briefing and soon after, our first dive. We had been given a tip and somewhat of a shady guarantee that "just offshore, you can find 3 seahorses". Imagine my excitement, I was so sure that we would easily find at least one of them. Wrong! Apparently directions like swim straight out for 70 meters and in about 7 meters of water, you will find a large fan coral and somewhere around that fan coral, you will find a yellow and a red seahorse.

Turns out, even though I'm Canadian, I don't know shit about the effin metric system - I don't actually know what 70 meters is and since there is math involved, I lost interest in figuring it out about 5 minutes into my dive. AND since we are diving in the ocean, there are A LOT of fan coral in the vicinity of the mythical seahorses. I might as well of been looking for a needle in a haystack or a unicorn in Central Park, because the seahorse safari was a FAIL and the guy that sent me off on a wild goose chase is an ass! There's apparently a sucker born every minute and today, I was it...

The Holidays are behind us for another year, the parties are over and the decorations have been put away. Now what? Apart from some indoor exercise, maybe the odd movie, some reading, an afternoon nap on the weekend and perhaps some weight loss, there is nothing to look forward to in the short term. The Holidays are a bit of a let-down in that respect. So much hype and then when the excitement suddenly stops, I’m left feeling lost – like I’ve forgotten to do something. I usually like to complain about the winter weather in January, but I can’t even do that because it hasn’t been that bad… yet. It’s been cold, but we have certainly been lacking in the snow department. I know winter will arrive and then I’ll have LOTS to keep my “bitter meter” ticking, but until then, what’s a girl to do?

Q&A With Myself...

Today is an anniversary of sorts… Today marks my 2 nd anniversary at my current place of employment.   Over the last 2 years, I’ve had some  a lot of spare time to reflect upon the career path that I’ve chosen and what wrong turns have lead me to the cube where I sit today. I’m not happy with some of the choices I’ve made, but I’m not going to dwell on those – life’s too short .   Each wrong turn has led me to something different, some new experience.   I’ve met some great people, others that aren’t so great and those who should be forgotten, but sadly are etched upon my soul.  I’ve learned some things along the way and have laughed at myself and others while doing whatever it is that I do.   I question whether I should have become a sell out and an ass kisser, but realize that I just don’t have what it takes.  I like being able to hold my head high and know that I’ve gotten to where I am in life by being honest – with myself and others.
