Things I Don't Care About Today...

Don't panic, it's a short list...

Municipal Elections – It’s municipal election day here in Ontario.  It’s time to vote for our town mayors and council members.  Since no one has bothered to run against my current mayor, I don’t really care.  Thank goodness this day will soon be over.  I’m sick of hearing the smear campaign ads and I’m sick of election signs polluting the side of the roadways and intersections.  

Bed Bugs – I’m tired of hearing about the spreading bed bug infestations.  Did you know, they are taking over New York, Toronto and they are coming soon to a town near you?  Enough already - as someone who loves to travel, it’s freaking me out and making me itch!

My mom came up with this little tidbit--you need to wash or at least throw into the dryer for 20 minutes anything you order new--it might be infected with bed bugs. Sigh, come back off the edge, mom.

I am all for the elections being over. Then the signs just lay there even with the sign law. They caught a guy stealing another guys sign locally. Jeepers people. What are we running for here? High school treasurer?

Enuff of that.

My wife freaks now about the bedbugs cause I travel a bit. Anything they can get you stirred up about.

I'm sick of hearing about bedbugs too. They say we can blame the Olympics for the recent epidemic in Vancouver.

January Blows...

The Holidays are behind us for another year, the parties are over and the decorations have been put away. Now what? Apart from some indoor exercise, maybe the odd movie, some reading, an afternoon nap on the weekend and perhaps some weight loss, there is nothing to look forward to in the short term. The Holidays are a bit of a let-down in that respect. So much hype and then when the excitement suddenly stops, I’m left feeling lost – like I’ve forgotten to do something. I usually like to complain about the winter weather in January, but I can’t even do that because it hasn’t been that bad… yet. It’s been cold, but we have certainly been lacking in the snow department. I know winter will arrive and then I’ll have LOTS to keep my “bitter meter” ticking, but until then, what’s a girl to do?

Q&A With Myself...

Today is an anniversary of sorts… Today marks my 2 nd anniversary at my current place of employment.   Over the last 2 years, I’ve had some  a lot of spare time to reflect upon the career path that I’ve chosen and what wrong turns have lead me to the cube where I sit today. I’m not happy with some of the choices I’ve made, but I’m not going to dwell on those – life’s too short .   Each wrong turn has led me to something different, some new experience.   I’ve met some great people, others that aren’t so great and those who should be forgotten, but sadly are etched upon my soul.  I’ve learned some things along the way and have laughed at myself and others while doing whatever it is that I do.   I question whether I should have become a sell out and an ass kisser, but realize that I just don’t have what it takes.  I like being able to hold my head high and know that I’ve gotten to where I am in life by being honest – with myself and others.
