Random Thoughts - Welcome Back to Chaos...

 
Holy hell, it’s been forever since I’ve had any random thoughts.  Okay, okay – all my thoughts are technically random, it’s just been forever since I’ve wrote them down.

I’ve failed at Christmas shopping this year.  Everyone has something under the tree, but in my opinion the purchases aren’t as good as they’ve been in the past.  I certainly won’t win any “You’ve Wowed Me Awards” and honestly, I don’t really care.  To those on my Christmas list - take that!

I’m now into my 4th week of work at the “new place” and I’m still not sure what to think.   Things are far more disorganized than I could have possibly imagined and while it’s my job to get things in order, I’m finding that it’s overwhelming me (which is unusual).  I like organization and process, but I can’t seem to find any of that here and I’m starting from scratch on a lot of things.  In my heart, I know I’ve made the right decision, but it’s going to take me some time to know for sure.   I just need to find my mojo…

While, we’re on the topic of work, I miss a few of my old co-workers and my old boss.  In particular, I miss their senses of humor.  No humor here – at all.  That’s going to have to change or I won’t survive.  Yep, I need to find that mojo…fast.

I went to see the latest installment of the Harry Potter franchise with J for his birthday.  It kept me mostly entertained.  I’ve never read the books, so there were a few parts that I was lost on and J had to catch me up on after.   Kind of like life…

Part of what I like most about going to the movies are the upcoming movie trailers.   Green Hornet looks to be promising for my entertainment dollar.  Guaranteed it won’t win an Oscar, but it will make me laugh and that’s worth something.

I baked shortbread cookies yesterday.  I don’t enjoy baking and only do so once a year when I have to make those damn cookies for The Boy and J.  It’s a Christmas tradition – just like egg nog, anger and resentment.

Work will fall into place, it just sometimes needs time.

And people will love your gifts, not because you bought them but because they are from you.

Relax on both counts, you're being too hard on yourself.

Seems to be going around. I have the Xmas blahs...I love the holiday, I just hate all the rush here, rush there, buy this, wrap that, omg I forgot so-and-so, etc.
It will be nice to be able to relax afterward!

The Holidays are behind us for another year, the parties are over and the decorations have been put away. Now what? Apart from some indoor exercise, maybe the odd movie, some reading, an afternoon nap on the weekend and perhaps some weight loss, there is nothing to look forward to in the short term. The Holidays are a bit of a let-down in that respect. So much hype and then when the excitement suddenly stops, I’m left feeling lost – like I’ve forgotten to do something. I usually like to complain about the winter weather in January, but I can’t even do that because it hasn’t been that bad… yet. It’s been cold, but we have certainly been lacking in the snow department. I know winter will arrive and then I’ll have LOTS to keep my “bitter meter” ticking, but until then, what’s a girl to do?

Q&A With Myself...

Today is an anniversary of sorts… Today marks my 2 nd anniversary at my current place of employment.   Over the last 2 years, I’ve had some  a lot of spare time to reflect upon the career path that I’ve chosen and what wrong turns have lead me to the cube where I sit today. I’m not happy with some of the choices I’ve made, but I’m not going to dwell on those – life’s too short .   Each wrong turn has led me to something different, some new experience.   I’ve met some great people, others that aren’t so great and those who should be forgotten, but sadly are etched upon my soul.  I’ve learned some things along the way and have laughed at myself and others while doing whatever it is that I do.   I question whether I should have become a sell out and an ass kisser, but realize that I just don’t have what it takes.  I like being able to hold my head high and know that I’ve gotten to where I am in life by being honest – with myself and others.
