With Brain Mush, This is What You Get...

I cannot seem to shut my brain off or at a minimum fine tune it, so that I can organize my thoughts.  As much as I try to focus of something, I’m distracted by another thought or thing.  So, with all that said, here’s what’s on my mind:

The Boy is moving some of his stuff home this weekend.  I’m excited to see him, but not excited to see all of the crap he’ll be bringing with him.  I don’t know how he has managed to accumulate so much stuff in such a short period of time of being away at school.

Speaking of The Boy, he got the great summer job I told you about a couple of weeks ago.  He’s disappointed it’s not in cemetery maintenance, but he’s happy (and so am I) that he’ll be earning $12.50 per hour.

J had a phone interview for a new job yesterday.  Secretly I hope he doesn’t get it.  I know I’m awful, but I think he’s making the wrong decision by wanting to go to this company.   I believe he’s wanting out of his current job so bad, he’s not looking at the big picture and what he’ll be giving up by doing so.  I have more than enough experience with jumping from one bad job to another.  I’ve expressed my concerns and regardless of the outcome, I’ll be supportive because that’s what he’d do for me.  I don’t have to like it though.

With great sadness and a lot of tears, I had our cat euthanized yesterday.  He was 18 and had just been diagnosed with an untreatable kidney disease.  Obviously it wasn’t easy, but it was the humane thing to do and I know I did the right thing.  I swear the only thing keeping him alive the past few years was the fact that he liked to chew on J’s computer electrical cords and the low voltage current kept jumpstarting his heart.

Since fish don’t count, we are now a pet free household.  I’m not sure how I feel about that, but I’m not in any hurry to get any more animals – at least not for awhile.   I do know that I won’t miss the gargantuan sized fur balls blowing throughout the house no matter how much I sweep and vacuum.

It snowed again yesterday and we had freezing rain overnight.  I’ve said it before and will say it once more – living in the north stinks, except during the Spring and Summer months.

On the upside, the weather may have turned the corner for today - it was sunny and warm.  Let's hope it lasts until November.

I'm sorry for the loss of your cat, that's not an easy decision to make even though you know it to be the right one.

Congrats to the Boy!

lol... it's odd reading your words about brining junk home... I get the feeling I'm hearing my mom! Sorry to say, it won't get any less until he gets his own "definite" place and REALLY moves away (as in once he has his own job etc.). And maybe not even then... :p

Sorry about the cat! It's so hard when a long-time furry companion has to go due to health issues. But it was the humane thing to do. Needless suffering is cruel.

Good luck with the weather! I'd send you some sunshine from here but I'm not sure if UPS will accept the package... ;o) hugs!

I have not known you that long, but the long dreary winter seems to have affected you a lot. Soon the sunshine will be a daily event and things will seem much better.

Sounds like winter is beating you down. Lets hope springs takes a hold and warms you thru and thru.

Our daughter decided she is staying near school thru the summer so she is getting an apartment with a friend. It will save her money in the long run versus dorm cost but her mom aint a bit happy.

I've had 2 move out and then back home. They bring junk home then move out again and leave their accumulated wealth in my garage.

Sorry to hear the boy didnt get the graveyard shift.

I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. A friend of my mine said to me that having cat is investing in sorrow - her cat had just passed away at the time. Maybe true but they always bring a smile to your face.

As for your son, you know his room is no longer his room right? As my Mom put it, "It's my new storage room so put your stuff in there."

As for the cold, if this offers comfort to you, take it. This summer I will suffer >40C weather. Better yet?

I think we are finally done with snow for the year here in MN but not necessarily. I love winter until about February and I love spring and summer until about July, but then it gets too hot and humid and I spend my days inside in the air conditioning cuz the heat makes me sick.

I'm so sorry about your loss. We've had to put down cats too and it's so hard. But you're right, you did the right thing.

Great news about the boy's job...hooray!! Do semesters end earlier in the year up there than in the US? It seems so early for him to be coming home!!

I'm really sorry to hear about your cat..being a cat owner (2) myself, I know how hard that is. :( HUGS!!
