Whirlwind Tour of Washington DC...

Last week, I had the opportunity to attend a one-day seminar in Washington, DC.  Unfortunately I had only planned for a half day of touring, but by the time I arrived, after flight cancellations and other delays, my half day turned into a couple of hours - in the rain. 

Oh well, I made the best of it and powered on.  My hotel was within a 5 minute walk to the White House, so that was my first stop.

J came along for the trip and spent the following day touring around while I was attending the seminar.  Maybe he'll share some of his photos with me so I can share with you.

The highlight of my trip (besides all of the sailors at the Naval Memorial) - I saw the Presidential Motorcade -sirens, secret service men, dark glasses, black SUVs and all.  Very exciting!

One day certainly is not enough time to see everything DC has to offer.  J and I can hardly wait to go back.

secret service squirrel...ha...i love DC...will be up sometime this summer as i usually try to go with the fam once a year....so much to see i dont know you would ever get to the end of it...

Did you happen to see that Denny's I saw when I was there a while back?

My friend was there at a conference last week as well.

Can you imagine how Lincoln would feel if he knew they were selling tickets to see where he was shot?

The Holidays are behind us for another year, the parties are over and the decorations have been put away. Now what? Apart from some indoor exercise, maybe the odd movie, some reading, an afternoon nap on the weekend and perhaps some weight loss, there is nothing to look forward to in the short term. The Holidays are a bit of a let-down in that respect. So much hype and then when the excitement suddenly stops, I’m left feeling lost – like I’ve forgotten to do something. I usually like to complain about the winter weather in January, but I can’t even do that because it hasn’t been that bad… yet. It’s been cold, but we have certainly been lacking in the snow department. I know winter will arrive and then I’ll have LOTS to keep my “bitter meter” ticking, but until then, what’s a girl to do?

Q&A With Myself...

Today is an anniversary of sorts… Today marks my 2 nd anniversary at my current place of employment.   Over the last 2 years, I’ve had some  a lot of spare time to reflect upon the career path that I’ve chosen and what wrong turns have lead me to the cube where I sit today. I’m not happy with some of the choices I’ve made, but I’m not going to dwell on those – life’s too short .   Each wrong turn has led me to something different, some new experience.   I’ve met some great people, others that aren’t so great and those who should be forgotten, but sadly are etched upon my soul.  I’ve learned some things along the way and have laughed at myself and others while doing whatever it is that I do.   I question whether I should have become a sell out and an ass kisser, but realize that I just don’t have what it takes.  I like being able to hold my head high and know that I’ve gotten to where I am in life by being honest – with myself and others.
