I Want Wednesday...

Image
Can someone please explain to me why – when it’s still the middle of winter IN Canada, I cannot find a single sweater in the stores? Just a few short weeks ago, there were racks of them everywhere and now, they’ve suddenly disappeared and have been replaced with racks and racks of swimsuits, tank tops and shorts. WTH? Last time I checked, it wasn’t fashionable to wear a bikini IN January, IN Canada, but then again maybe I’m just being prudish. So, with that being said, I want some sweaters… This one would be nice. It's on the conservative side, but nice for the office... (Photo Courtesy of Mount Cashmere) Red is not necessarily my color, but I'd settle for this one... (Photo Courtesy of Mount Cashmere) OR this one... (Photo Courtesy of Mount Cashmere) Or this one... I COULD TOTALLY ROCK THIS ONE.... (Photo Courtesy of Nice Kicks)

Honestly, I'm Honored....

I'm super excited to have received The Honest Scrap Award from Rachel @ When Does Tragedy Arrive? Although I have received this award before, it's just a special this time around - maybe even better because the icon actually fits on my sidebar this time. If you haven't stopped by her blog, be sure to visit Rachel if for no other reason than she loves "The Duke"... John Wayne. In case you weren't around when I received the first award, here are the rules and my answers. The Rules 1. “The Honest Scrap” award is not one to hold all to your self but it must be shared! 2. The recipient has to tell 10 true things about themselves in their blog that no one else knows. 3. The recipient has to pass along this prestigious award to 10 more bloggers. 4. Those 10 bloggers all have to be notified they have been given this award. 5. Those 10 bloggers should link back to the blog that awarded them. 10 Things There are a few people that probab...

Karma Has Befriended Me...

For those of you that have been following my many rants regarding my co-workers, I have a bit of great news to share with everyone. The Director of HR (who lacks direction, work ethic and common sense), the same one that just a short few weeks ago was promoted to Associate Vice President has decided to leave the company “to take on a new role where she can focus her full attention on one of her key passions – Organization Development”. Except for the fact that she is leaving, I’m not sure what that that actually means, but then again – I don’t really care. Karma came back and bit Corporate Management in the ass on this one. Had they consulted with me in the first place, I could have told them they were making a HUGE mistake. I have insight and foresight that they lack, but why won’t anyone listen to me? Oh wait, I’m not a member of the Corporate Management Team and couldn’t possibly have a clue… Instead, they insisted on promoting this tool, issued a press ...

Dear Friends...

Dear Friends, Just as the New Year begins, I wanted to thank you for the emails you have forwarded over the past year. I must send a big thank you to whoever sent me the one about rat crap in the glue on envelopes, because I now have to use a wet sponge with every envelope that needs sealing. Also, I now have to wipe the top of every can I open for the same reason. I no longer have any savings because I gave it all to a sick girl who is about to die in the hospital for the 1,387,258th time. But that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft is sending me for participating in their special email programs. Or from the senior bank clerk in Nigeria who wants me to split seven million dollars with me for pretending to be a long lost relative of a customer who died intestate. I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me. I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward emails to seven friends and make a wish within five ...

Revenge Against the Nerds...

I’ve mentioned before that I work for a “technology” company in Southwestern Ontario. No, it’s not the company that makes the Blackberry, BUT I wish it was. I have a number of friends that work there and the perks are pretty sweet – i.e. ice cream delivered every Friday in the Summer, employee only private concerts (historically, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and mostly recently U2). Ahh, the life… Now that I’ve totally been side-tracked, what’s the point of this you may ask? Ummm, I forget. Wait besides from needing a new job, my point is this… because I work in a technology company, the majority of the employees are males under the age of 25 – software developers, hardware developers, engineers, analysts (aka GEEKS with no social skills, fashion or common sense). It’s like I’m working in nerd frat house from the 80’s movie – Revenge of the Nerds. The similarities are: · There is a beer keg in our lunchroom. The “boys” seem to think that si...

January Blows...

The Holidays are behind us for another year, the parties are over and the decorations have been put away. Now what? Apart from some indoor exercise, maybe the odd movie, some reading, an afternoon nap on the weekend and perhaps some weight loss, there is nothing to look forward to in the short term. The Holidays are a bit of a let-down in that respect. So much hype and then when the excitement suddenly stops, I’m left feeling lost – like I’ve forgotten to do something. I usually like to complain about the winter weather in January, but I can’t even do that because it hasn’t been that bad… yet. It’s been cold, but we have certainly been lacking in the snow department. I know winter will arrive and then I’ll have LOTS to keep my “bitter meter” ticking, but until then, what’s a girl to do?

Twinkies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Doritos...

And so it has begun… As you may recall, I didn’t make any New Year’s resolutions this year because I didn’t want to disappoint myself. Instead, I foolishly made myself a few promises. WTH was I thinking? Obviously, I wasn’t… Now that 2010 has busted down the door and is standing before me like an unwelcomed house guest, I’ve realized there isn’t any difference between a resolution and a promise – it’s all crap and now I’m left to salvage my dignity and carry on with these promises to do something better with my life…or at least until my loved ones beg me to stop the nonsense and “eat a effin Twinkie already”. Yes, my quest to lose 20 lbs started today and I’ve realized something about myself – I think about food A LOT. How the hell am I going to make it? It’s only mid afternoon on Day 1 and I’m already contemplating cheating. I’ve also been rationalizing the need to NOT exercise this evening. In my mind, not eating anything of “value” toda...
