Diddlefarting…

That’s what I feel like I’ve been doing lately – slacking, procrastinating, stalling or diddlefarting – the act of doing very little, while appearing to be very busy.  Diddlefarting is an art form and I’m proud to say that I have mastered it through many years of practice. In my previous jobs, I had plenty of time on my hands, so I became creative with how to pass time while maintaining the sense of having an extreme workload.  If you want, you can read about the finer details here .  *Disclaimer:  Results may vary.  Use at your own risk. Now, I’m very busy (for real), but with that said, I’m feeling burnt out this week and with that comes lack of motivation to work on the mundane task of this job.  So, for the time being, I’ve brought out the binders and sticky notes and it’s time to practice a little diddlefarting. Tell me, do you diddlefart?

Nothing But Joy…

Things at the moment are tedious and boring, so instead of complaining about something just to make up a blog post…I’ll say nothing (or next to nothing). Which by the way, I happen to have an endless supply of irritants in my life…or maybe it’s just my surly outlook on life…nope not possible. Why?  Because I’ve started to take a new multi-vitamin…and the labeling can’t lie.

Things I Think About on a Friday Afternoon...

Is it 5:00 yet? How much longer until I can go home? It’s 3:35 and I really don’t want to start anything new. Gosh, this afternoon is dragging. I really don’t want to cook supper tonight. I’m hungry. Maybe I should get a snack. If I wander to the vending machine, I could kill about 10 minutes. I’m tired. I need a nap. I get to sleep in tomorrow. Maybe I should write a blog entry. No one reads blogs on Fridays. Still hungry. Too lazy to wander to the vending machine. Gosh, this afternoon is really dragging. Why the hell is it dragging? Is it 5:00 yet??? Ahh, hell it's only 3:37. That’s it, I’m getting a snack. Happy Friday!!

Prince Charming?

Only way to find out is to give him a kiss.  After all, he looks like he's waiting for someone. (Sorry, but you'll have to wait for the advert to finish)

Yep, I've Lost It....

The things I can come up with in a long, boring meeting…sometimes I amaze myself (and not in a good way).   No words of wisdom, no words of wit.   Instead there’s boredom and here I sit.   While contemplating a witty blog, I begin to feel my arteries clog.   I dream of things, I dream of places, I easily picture those bloggy faces.   To meet, to greet, to dance in the street.   Perhaps one day we’ll say hello, but until then I have to go.   Back to work, back to the grind, back to sit on my be-hind.

Tomato, Toe-ma-toe

No matter how you pronounce it – they are delicious!   Yes, things are sooooo boring in my life at the moment that I’m actually writing about tomatoes.     Are they a fruit or vegetable?   Friend or foe?   Who cares?   I love them.   Tomatoes are now “in season” here in Canada and I’m lucky to live in the heart of farm country, with easy access to fresh local produce.    I eat at least one tomato at every meal and know it’s time to cut back on the tomatoes when I start getting canker sores in my mouth from all of the acid.   Yes, I love them that much…   I actually consider myself a bit of a tomato connoisseur and can usually tell how good they will be by smell alone.   Yes, I admittedly sniff my way through the produce department.     Loser?   Ummm, yes.   But you probably already figured that out already by this post alone.   ...

Aliens May Have Something To Do With It....Or Not...

I wish I could tell you that my absence from the blogosphere was a result of being abducted by aliens or that I won the lottery and have been busy traveling the world or because I became a swim suit model and my photo shoots have kept me too busy.     Nope, none of the above has occurred.   I know…I’m disappointed too (especially the swim suit model gig).   Although I’m sure I’ve been recently visited by aliens and they have managed to manipulate my brain and made me a lazy-ass couch potato (more so than usual that is).   I have no excuses – I’ve just ran out of creative steam.    Normally the summer months rejuvenate me, but sadly that’s not been the case this year.       Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying summer, the sunshine, the heat, the humidity.     I just have nothing to show for it, except maybe a nice tan and some sun-streaked hair.    I don’t even have memories to go along with th...

Google Boredom....It'll Entertain You...

My Horoscope for Today... The Moon in your sign gives you an edge, even when dealing with a cold, difficult person. You could be uncomfortable with what is coming up at the workplace. You cannot count on someone like you have in the past.  My Response:   I deal with cold, difficult people everyday.  They can go @#$% themselves today, just like they did yesterday.  Boredom I've been bored out of my tree this week, so much so that I Googled "boredom".  Here are some of the things I've found: Gotta cat?  This one I have to try... I always suspected Barney was a perv... See - I told you I was bored.   Anyhow...On Sunday, we're off to drop The Boy off at college. By Sunday night, I'll be a slobbering, weeping moron.  Wish me luck. Have a great weekend everyone!

Guess What?

Twiddling My Thumbs...

Image
I’m not even sure what a “twiddle” is, but I think I’m doing it or I could be diddle-farting.  Diddle-farting seems more appropriate to what I’m actually doing, which is nothing except trying to look busy and fly under the radar. Last week was crazy busy and today – nothing.  Ughhh… So with that said, here is my to-do list for today: Look for some cheap flights to somewhere - anywhere that’s warm in November (and cheap) will do nicely. Update my resume.  My recent job prospect is asking for an updated resume.  Do you think I should list my accomplishments of reading e-books at work or my mad skills at time wasting skills. Take an extra long lunch – maybe go the bookstore or mall. Do some online shopping. Organize my paper clips.  The “ribbed” ones need to be removed…I don’t like the way they leave marks on my paper. Clean up ...

How to Efficiently Waste Time @ Work...

I have found from experience that there are two types of work boredom – there is the simple being bored with the work your doing (i.e. data entry and photocopying) and then there is the “poke yourself in the eye”, mind rotting boredom. I experience the latter on a daily basis. Unfortunately in this type of economy, the last thing I need to do is run into my boss’ office and exclaim: “I’m turning into a freakin vegetable out there. What the hell were you thinking when you hired me? I need work and there appears to be none. Hello, do you not see how much time I waste during the day.” Nope, I know when to keep my mouth shut and that would just be career suicide and while it might be fun at that moment, unemployment would soon follow and I can’t imagine that would be full of awesome moments. So, in order to continue collecting a paycheck, I’ve adapted to my surroundings. In case you are ever in my situation, here are some tips as to how you can eff...
