Gobble, Gobble...

It's Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday here in Canada and that means: A long weekend; Fantastic weather. Sunny and warm is what the weather people are saying; Local county fair should make for some great junk food fixins; and of course... Turkey and all the trimmings. On Tuesday, I will commence the self-loathing but until then...have a fantastic weekend!

Happy Thanksgiving...

I wanted to wish all of my American blogger friends a very Happy Thanksgiving. I'm so jealous of all the turkey leftovers you will be enjoying - for the next few days. Enjoy!

Giving Thanks...

It’s Canadian Thanksgiving today, so in the spirit of giving thanks, here’s what I’m thankful for: I’m thankful for my family and friends. They all drive me bat-shit crazy on a regular basis, but I appreciate their quirks – in small doses. I’m especially thankful to J for taking care of the majority of the household chores - cleaning, groceries, baking and margarita making. I’m thankful for my sense of humor and the margaritas because without them, I would have totally lost my mind by now. I’m thankful for The Boy and his sense of humor because without it, he would have made me lose my mind by now. I’m thankful my in-laws are hosting the turkey dinner this year for the whole family. I’m especially thankful for not having to have those people in my house for an extended period of time and being able to leave when I want. I’m thankful today is a holiday and therefore, I do not have to spend time with my boss or co-workers. I’m thankful for my job, but would be more thankful...

Gobble, Gobble...

It's Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday here in Canada and that means: A long weekend; My dad is in town visiting. I haven't seen him in 3D in over 3 years, so I'm excited for that; Fantastic weather. Sunny and warm is what the weather people are saying; Local county fair should make for some great junk food fixins; and of course... Turkey and all the trimmings. On Tuesday, I will commence the self-loathing but until then...have a fantastic weekend!

Better Late, Than Never....

Sorry folks,  I've been so consumed with the new job and my upcoming craft show and of course, I have the excuse of being Canadian and it's therefore not a holiday for me, that I almost forgot what day it is.  I know, what the hell, was I thinking. So, without further adieu... BTW, I picked that up from my time spent with a Shakespearean festival here in Canada (located in the town  made famous by that stupid dumb ass Bieber kid).  Anyhoodle.... HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!! I'm sure you all have something to be thankful for and if you don't, be thankful that your not Justin Bieber....or Charlie Sheen.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving....

Random Tuesday Thoughts...Cold Turkey Edition

Image
Seems the only thoughts I have these days are random.   So with that said, go visit T he Un Mom for a random link up – you won’t be disappointed. It’s freezing cold here in Canada these days.   I guess that’s what I should expect when it’s October and I’m living in CANADA!   Duh… Still, I don’t have to like the cold weather.   Instead of just sucking it up and dealing with it, I plan to bitch about it – a lot.   Don’t say you weren’t warned… The only good thing about October is Canadian Thanksgiving.   We celebrate ours on October 11 th .   Long weekend, here I come… Yesterday, I also was blessed with an extra serving of Thanksgiving turkey goodness thanks to my father in law.   Sunday night, he took the turkey out of the freezer to put something else in and forgot to put the turkey back too.   So, when it was discovered the yesterday morning, there was no other choice than to cook that baby up and inv...

Open Letters...

First, I wish to say “Happy Thanksgiving” to all my American friends. I know I had my Turkey Day in October, but let’s be honest – that was a century ago. I’m a little behind on my letter writing, so here goes... Disclaimer: The opinions expressed here are my own. Dear Lunch Room Guy, Wearing your sunglasses in the office makes you look like a dork, but I’m sure you already knew that. Oh and just to clarify, wearing those damn Crocs and the fanny pack doesn’t help your appearance either. Best Wishes, SC ************************************ Dear Lazy-Ass Engineer, Stop complaining that the photocopier is out of paper and do something about it already. It’s not my problem, but you are. P.S. In case you didn't already know, I wish to point out that you are a whiney-ass troll. Yours truly, S *************************************** Dear Mall Santa, I would like to know how you got that job. ...

Random Tuesday Thoughts

Image
Since I have a lot of them, I've decided to become organized and jump on the Random Thoughts bandwagon. I picked up the idea from Wizard of Otin , who I think picked it up from The Un Mom , but it doesn't really matter... or need to be too complicated (or make your head hurt)...it's a great idea. I dislike Tuesdays that feel like Mondays – thanks to the Canadian Thanksgiving. Now, I’m just a day behind in being miserable. Family get-togethers further cement my beliefs that some of my extended family members are a bunch of rednecks. You know you’re a redneck if…at the Thanksgiving table, you brag about using the edible shrimp from a shrimp ring as fish bait because they work better than worms. No shit. What fish wouldn’t want to dine on a $9.00 shrimp ring instead of a $2.00 can of worms? I’m happy to report that I did not gain the predicted 5 lbs this weekend, but managed to keep it to 3 lbs. The other 2 lbs will arrive shortly though, as I stil...

I'm Happy & Give Thanks...

Image
When I arrived at work this morning, I was happy to find a tray full of bagels and muffins waiting in the lunchroom for me (well maybe they weren’t ALL for me…). I’d be happier if I wasn’t suspect of management’s sudden generosity with the gift of doughy goodness. I’m happy today is Friday. I’d be happier if it was 4:30. I’m happy that it’s a long weekend in Canada . It’s Thanksgiving on Monday. I give thanks for turkey, potatoes, gravy and pie. I’m happy that this weekend also happens to be the start of Oktoberfest in my region. I give thanks for schnitzel, beer and the polka. I’d be happier if I actually knew how to polka, instead of fl ailing and spinning about wildly yelling “E-I-E-I-E-I-O”. I’m happiest knowing that no one else actually knows how to polka either. I’m happy that my in-laws are hosting Thanksgiving dinner. I’d be happier if the in-laws would use paper plates or at least purchase a dishwasher so I wouldn’t have to help manually wash the di...

Coming Soon to Canada...

Image
I certainly don’t require a calendar to point out the fact that the autumnal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere is next Tuesday – September 22 nd and being located north of the 49 th parallel, it becomes apparent early on what next week will bring – Fall. I love the Fall season, I just don’t like what comes after it…brrrr Signs of Fall in Canada … When I wake up, it’s dark and when I leave for work, it’s still dark and soon, I will be driving home in the dark as well. It’s no wonder, I feel like a sun-deprived mole 85% of the year. The overnight temperature is dipping lower and lower. My wooly socks have once again become a part of my nightly ensemble. Soon it will be time to put away the cotton sheets in exchange for the flannel ones and electric blanket. The Canada Geese have begun to fly in their famous “V” pattern and my deck is directly beneath their daily flight pattern. Damn flying rodents… I can’t quite figure out where there going because they certainly a...
