Random Thoughts - Rodents, Whale Sharks, Mac and Cheese...
January is finally behind us. Can I get a collective WHOO-HOO? Now, if the winter weather would just go away as easily life
would be grand…
Tomorrow is Groundhog Day. I don’t put much faith in weather predicting rodents, but
the whole tradition surrounding February 2nd amuses me. Who in their right mind thought it
would be a good idea to pull a hibernating rodent from their hole in the middle
of winter to find out if they could see their shadow and whether that would
lead to an additional 6 more weeks of winter? I say leave the rodent alone, we can manage without him. Here’s my prediction - the first
day of spring just happens to be in another 6 weeks. Coincidence?
Speaking of hibernating animals – that’s exactly what I’ve
been doing for the past two weekends.
I’ve only been leaving the house long enough on Saturday mornings to get
a few groceries and then I stay huddled in my house for the rest of the
weekend. I should be bothered by
sloth like tendencies, but I could really care less. With tax season coming up, I’ve spent some of the time
catching up on my business bookkeeping.
It’s only been 10 months since I’ve entered any receipts, so one could
say it was overdue.
In celebration of her upcoming 50th year, my way
older BF (and fellow scuba junkie) is planning a group dive trip in March of
2012 to the Philippines for 2 weeks.
She fears getting older and
I should really be there for emotional support because that’s what friends are
for. Believe me - it has nothing
to do with the whale sharks or other cool stuff I’m going to see.
Whale Sharks
Pygmy Seahorses
Blue Ring Octopus
So for
the next year, I will be saving all my pennies in order to afford this
trip. Please send me your
macaroni, cheese and any other cheap recipes – I’m going to need them. Keep in mind – I’m not desperate
enough to eat anything containing organ meat, tofu, broccoli, cauliflower
or carrots.

Yay for vacation budgeting!
I know what you mean about staying inside. I so didn't want to come to work today since it was -9 with a windchill of -18 (F) and I had to wait at the bus stop!
Hope you have a great week!
I'm pretty happy to hang with winter for a bit longer. But I like the cold weather and the fact that it's dark early.
