I Wonder...

I wonder what’s wrong with the world and the people in it.  Can’t we all just get along? I wonder why people feel the need to share so much on social media sites. I wonder where sea gulls nest.  I’ve yet to see a sea gull’s nest or their babies, so I’m curious.  I could Google it, but I don’t really want to know.  I’m just content to keep wondering about it. I wonder how fast mice can run.  Have you ever seen them run across the road?  Those little guys sure can move! I wonder why I procrastinate.  I would feel better getting things done, but not bad enough to get moving on it. Thinking About Stuff...

For not doing much these last few weeks/weekends, I cannot seem to shut my brain off. I honestly believe I have recently developed an adult form of ADD, as I cannot seem to focus on one thing for very long and my mind easily wanders from one thing to the next. Needless to say, getting through the work day has been a huge problem for me. Do you ever feel overwhelmed by social obligations – current or pending? Like I said before, we haven’t done much this summer and we certainly haven’t been socializing, but I’m feeling overwhelmed by social obligations that haven’t even happened yet. I need to invite multiple friends over for dinner. You know the whole – “it’s my turn” fiasco. I need to visit an old co-worker – she doesn’t drive, so it leaves me to go to her. I need to RSVP to my niece’s wedding. I need to help plan my friend’s 50th birthday party. I need to make multiple appointments for not-so-social events like the dentist, doctor, eye doctor, etc. All I do is think about these ...

Stupid Travel Complaints...

This article recently appeared in one of our local newspapers.  I just had to share...enjoy!    A recent survey from Thomas Cook and the Association of British Travel Agents revealed 20 of the most ridiculous complaints by holiday-makers made to their travel agent.   1. “I think it should be explained in the brochure that the local store does not sell proper biscuits like custard creams or ginger nuts.”   2. “It’s lazy of the local shopkeepers to close in the afternoons. I often needed to buy things during ‘siesta’ time — this should be banned.”   3. “On my holiday to Goa in India, I was disgusted to find that almost every restaurant served curry. Lacrosse - Skill or Insanity?

A few years ago, I discovered a wonderful spectator sport and have been hooked ever since – lacrosse. Actually it’s become somewhat of a family tradition – albeit not a traditional one, but at least once a year, my husband, son and I head into Toronto to attend a Toronto Rock Lacrosse game. With The Boy out of the house and time on your hands, J and I  have decided to purchase season tickets for the Toronto Rock Lacrosse games.  Should be fun...    Lacrosse is a game of skill, bravery and a little bit of insanity – o.k. maybe a lot of insanity. I haven’t taken the time to learn the rules of the game, but I have gathered that the beating of each other with sticks is totally acceptable; however if a player decides to use his fist and punch someone – that action is cause for a penalty (but using your stick to bludgeon someone across the head is o.k.). A penalty is also given if you grab another player’s shirt or stick (but just remember that it’s o.k. to use...

When I Was a Kid...

A friend sent this to me via e-mail.  It's so great, I had to share... When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. Have you ever… wanted to run away and hide from your current responsibilities? I sometimes wonder what it would be like to “join” the witness relocation program.  It’s not like it would be a real club and of course, I wouldn’t want to be hunted by some drug crazed mobster, but it would be nice to start over.   There are certain days, when the thought is very appealing to me. Have you ever… had the urge to “moon” some random person just to see what their reaction might be? I’ve been “dared” to moon on occasion, but the usual “moonees” are friends, so somehow the shock factor is lost. The KISS concert was FANTASTIC last night. It was just what I needed to vent some pent up energy – WHOOO HOOO!!! They took the stage at 9:00 and played until 11:30. Two and a half hours of non-stop Rock & Roll was a spectacle of awesomeness (if there is such a thing). It’s hard to believe that this band has been touring for 35 years and can still manage to keep a crowd entertained while prancing around in those platform boots. I would say the highlight of the evening would be the drum solo by Eric Singer. I didn’t think it was physically possible for someone’s arms to move at that rate of speed for such a constant period of time. Seriously, it lasted for at least 10 minutes! We had excellent seats and I’m thankful J had the foresight to bring ear plugs because without them, I would be hearing impaired today. Well let me tell you - those individuals that believe this were blessed to have never crossed paths with a stupid person or they are either stupid people themselves and don’t recognize the signs. How to Efficiently Waste Time @ Work...

I have found from experience that there are two types of work boredom – there is the simple being bored with the work your doing (i.e. data entry and photocopying) and then there is the “poke yourself in the eye”, mind rotting boredom. I experience the latter on a daily basis. Unfortunately in this type of economy, the last thing I need to do is run into my boss’ office and exclaim: “I’m turning into a freakin vegetable out there. What the hell were you thinking when you hired me? I need work and there appears to be none. Hello, do you not see how much time I waste during the day.” Nope, I know when to keep my mouth shut and that would just be career suicide and while it might be fun at that moment, unemployment would soon follow and I can’t imagine that would be full of awesome moments.
