Still Here, Still Grinding …

I’m not even going to get into how terrible of a blogger I am. In fact, I’m really not a blogger at all. I’m more of a “write something when I feel like it” kind of person or in other words, I’m lazy … sloth-like lazy. So, what’s new with everyone out there? Nothing new on my end. I’m still at the same job I don’t necessarily love, but I don’t loathe it either, so I accept it for what it is - a means to an end. I’m still grinding on my 5-7 year plan, which by the way, never really moves in years. It was 5-7 years five or seven years ago and it will probably be the same next year. It’s still a plan and I’m moving at a turtle’s pace towards it, but I’m still moving forward so, that’s my positive thought for the day. J and I are still running our side businesses (yes, businesses). I call them, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. They too are moving along, but certainly aren’t the million dollar overnight success businesses one could hope for. We seem to spend a lot of time evol...

Things...

I’m having a tough time with this blogging gig lately. I don’t have anything to say – surprising even for myself! I feel so many people have lost interest in it as well or perhaps is the Summer weather keeping everyone active and away from their computers. That’s a nice thought, but I’m thinking the fad might be winding down. I’m not giving up on it just yet, but only time will tell. Yesterday was a holiday here in Canada – Canada Day. Seems pointless to have a Tuesday off. By law the holiday could have been “moved” to the Monday. That would have made perfect sense to have a long weekend in the middle of summer, but alas NO – common sense does not prevail in matters such as these. So now today, feels like Monday all over again. Aghhh! Work continues to be a “means to an end”. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it (most days) – it just happens, I get paid, repeat. It’s progress review time here at the moment. I hate them – they are a waste of time and I suck at trying to ma...

Yep, I've Lost It....

The things I can come up with in a long, boring meeting…sometimes I amaze myself (and not in a good way).   No words of wisdom, no words of wit.   Instead there’s boredom and here I sit.   While contemplating a witty blog, I begin to feel my arteries clog.   I dream of things, I dream of places, I easily picture those bloggy faces.   To meet, to greet, to dance in the street.   Perhaps one day we’ll say hello, but until then I have to go.   Back to work, back to the grind, back to sit on my be-hind.

Neglecting the Ones I Love...

I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth – yet.  I just can’t keep up and there are many things in my life that are being neglected.   This Blog – I love blogging, but I haven’t been able to come up with anything interesting or intriguing to say.   Blogger and Gmail has been completely blocked from my work computer, so this makes it extremely difficult to blog or even read blogs.   By the time evening comes along, I have a million other things to do at home and blogging hasn’t made its way up the list.   It frustrates me and I feel like I’ve failed miserably at something that I enjoy doing.     My apologies to everyone…   Exercise – What is that?   Does the hour I spend in physiotherapy for my sore neck each week count?   It’s been at least 3 weeks since I’ve worked out.   Not good…   Me –   Let’s see – I need to get back to eating healthy.   I need a haircut, a pedicure, a manicure, a fac...

How to Efficiently Waste Time @ Work...

I have found from experience that there are two types of work boredom – there is the simple being bored with the work your doing (i.e. data entry and photocopying) and then there is the “poke yourself in the eye”, mind rotting boredom. I experience the latter on a daily basis. Unfortunately in this type of economy, the last thing I need to do is run into my boss’ office and exclaim: “I’m turning into a freakin vegetable out there. What the hell were you thinking when you hired me? I need work and there appears to be none. Hello, do you not see how much time I waste during the day.” Nope, I know when to keep my mouth shut and that would just be career suicide and while it might be fun at that moment, unemployment would soon follow and I can’t imagine that would be full of awesome moments. So, in order to continue collecting a paycheck, I’ve adapted to my surroundings. In case you are ever in my situation, here are some tips as to how you can eff...
