Friendship...

Friendship is about being there to listen when someone needs to talk. Friendship is about being able to talk and having someone there to listen. Friendship is about doing things out of the kindness of your heart and not expecting reciprocity or monetary payment. Friendship should be unconditional and not about personal gain. Friendship is about telling the truth regardless of the topic. Friendship is about support and support can be given in many ways. Friendship should not be one-sided. Friendship should be everlasting and not fleeting. Friendship should not be insincere. Friendship should not revolve around Facebook. Treat your friends they way you wish to be treated, otherwise your friends will move on to find real friends that are worthy of their time.   Remember that…

Things to Ponder…

Does anyone use the word “please” or is it just a given that they are entitled to something and therefore the word is not required? Why are some people just bitchy assholes EVERY, SINGLE day of the year? When did we become so self-absorbed? Why do some people believe the world revolves around them? Why does the festive season bring out the worst in mankind? Why has Facebook become the first thing people turn to when they need to express their emotions? What did we do with our spare time before social media and Candy Crush? Do you really care if a Facebook friend cleared a level on Candy Crush? Why does Facebook recommend “people that I may know” that only appear to be porn stars? Do they know something I don’t? Does anyone read anything other than status updates anymore? Why do the Internet Nazis allow me access to social media sites, but not the Weather Network? Why do we wish our lives away and only live for the weekends? Does anyone send Christmas cards anymo...

Sorry For Stating the Obvious…

BUT, thank goodness it’s Friday. The only thing that would make this day better is if it was 5:00 or better yet, if I had stayed home. It is snowing here today. I know I shouldn’t complain because we’ve been fortunate to experience a drier than usual winter, but today my commute took over two hours when usually it only takes me one. To top it off, I also had to stop and get gas for my car (you know how much I love to do that too)…in the blowing, freezing cold snow storm. It’s winter, which is misery to those like me. On the other hand, it’s a veritable winter wonderland for those crazy, freak of nature types that LOVE the snow, who by the way – I have “unfriended” from Facebook. I can’t possibly be friends with THOSE types of people any longer.   Now that I’ve properly ranted…I hope everyone has a great Friday and a fantastic weekend.

Facebook… The Pickle Theme…

The jury is still out as to whether I find Facebook to be a useful tool.  Sometimes I want to gouge my eyes out and defriend everyone on my list (mostly blood relatives) because I’m inundated with crap about their lives.  There are other times when I find Facebook to be a great tool for sharing and inspiration.   Yesterday was one of those days… Various comments and status updates that brought joy to my life… In response to my status update of:   “The sun is shining. All is right with the world – at least my world”.   A good male friend (who dislikes cats – therein lies the humor) wrote:   "Good for you, my morning started with cleaning out the refrigerator after the dill pickle container spilled through the night, only to be followed by Ewok (his wife’s cat) puking her guts out and then crapping all over the kitchen floor. I need a vacation!”   The following status update that made me laugh out loud and comes fro...

Random Tuesday Thoughts...$#*! You Won't Care About, but I'm Going to Tell You Anyway...

Guess What?  It's that time again - a time to randomize your thoughts and confirm to the world how crazy you actually are.  Now, you can thank The Un Mom for hosting this loonie extravanganza... I burnt the roof of my mouth and tongue yesterday and it is still numb and fuzzy today.   That’s what I get for letting myself become famished and then scarfing down my lunch fresh out of the microwave. I’ve had a kink in my neck and shoulder for the last month that I cannot get rid of.   I’ve been going to the chiropractor once a week since it started and have spent a small fortune in Icy Hot Neck Patches and Robaxacet but it’s just not going away.   Grrr… Only 4 more days (including today) that I will be working at my current job and 3 out of the 4 days, I’m being treated to lunch by co-workers and my boss.    Now, I just need to find someone to take me to lunch today… J and I leave for Samana, Dominican Republic on Monday....

Too Much Information?

With the emergence of social networking sites like MySpace, Twitter and Facebook, why have we felt the need to over-share intimate details of our lives? Have we really become that self-absorbed that we feel the need to provide a play by play on what you are actually thinking at the moment (and not the thoughts that should be shared)? I’m just as guilty as the next person for over-sharing from time to time. I have posted a thing or two that felt warranted at the time it was posted, but when a clearer head prevailed, I was slightly embarrassed by my comments. This is what I call a common sense filter and while mine might not function at 100% capacity all of the time, it does the job it should. I had assumed we all had one, but apparently I am wrong. For example, my Facebook home page has become a bleak landscape of stuff I don’t really care about and to be honest, I am embarrassed to have every accepted these people as my “friends”. I’m a very open minded person and am certainly ...
