There Was a Point, But I Seem to Have Forgotten What it Was…

The hardest part of coming back from vacation is the reality that comes along with it. We’ve been back over a week, but it seems like we have never left. As soon as our feet hit Canadian soil and our phones were switched back on, we were immediately immersed within our old lives and the day to day madness it brings. How come it takes a week of being on vacation for the stress to leave your body, but it only takes a mere hour or two for all the stress to return? Household chores, work, family madness, bills and all the responsibilities that go along with everything I just listed seem to loom larger than before we left. I know, I know, I keep telling myself “suck it up buttercup”, but it doesn’t mean I have to stop whining about it. In a mere 8 months, I’ll have another chance to decompress…maybe. We are taking J’s parents on a trip to Puerto Rico with us. They wanted us to take them back to Hawaii again, but as I told them (thanks to the Rolling Stones)… “you can’t alw...

Seize The Day...

I know it’s been awhile since I’ve posted and I don’t really have an excuse, except that my blogging mojo has been in hibernation. I’m still not sure that I’m fully back to where I need to be, nor are my writing skills finely tuned to perfection, but I just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of something. I will apologize in advance for it’s depressing nature, but sometimes we need these reminders… Life is short, unpredictable and precious. Never take that for granted. I understand we all get consumed with our daily lives and the grind can wear us down and fog our perceptions of what is truly important. Having said that, we all need to take a step back and re-focus on what we already have in our lives and not worry about those things that are truly unimportant and bogging us down. I have been reminded of this a couple of times already today. The first is when I heard the news of the sudden passing of a co-workers wife. She was 37, went for an aft...

Travel Vacations...

Let me first start by saying that I have no experience in this area, but am slowly gathering some knowledge through my research while trying to help The Boy “discover himself”. Truth is - I’m trying to get him out of my house and into the world… Although, I joke about his wasted college days, I don’t see anything that helps you decide the things you DON’T want to do in life as a total waste. Yes, money has been spent on school that could have been better spent elsewhere. Enough said… I’m not dwelling on that. Moving forward… So, The Boy is once again at a crossroads of what he wants to do with his life. He’s tried three separate college programs (broadcast television, business marketing and most recently, culinary management) and none seem to be fulfilling a need in his life. While he enjoys culinary, it’s not something he can see himself making a long term career out of. He’s a hard worker, but just doesn’t have the passion for it. With all that being said, it’s been di...

Neglecting the Ones I Love...

I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth – yet.  I just can’t keep up and there are many things in my life that are being neglected.   This Blog – I love blogging, but I haven’t been able to come up with anything interesting or intriguing to say.   Blogger and Gmail has been completely blocked from my work computer, so this makes it extremely difficult to blog or even read blogs.   By the time evening comes along, I have a million other things to do at home and blogging hasn’t made its way up the list.   It frustrates me and I feel like I’ve failed miserably at something that I enjoy doing.     My apologies to everyone…   Exercise – What is that?   Does the hour I spend in physiotherapy for my sore neck each week count?   It’s been at least 3 weeks since I’ve worked out.   Not good…   Me –   Let’s see – I need to get back to eating healthy.   I need a haircut, a pedicure, a manicure, a fac...

Live Life...

There comes a time when we all need to take a step back and adjust our perspective on life and what’s really and truly important. It’s easy to become consumed with the daily chores, jobs and family commitments, but what we all have to realize is that we are ultimately in control of your own destiny.  Stop for just one moment and ask yourself – what if?   What if I didn’t take my children to soccer practice, dance lessons, karate lessons, skating lessons?  Who are we truly doing it for anyhow?  What if we stayed home and watched a movie instead?  Will they love me less? What if I didn’t exercise today?  Will the world come to an end? What if I left the dirty dishes in the sink until tomorrow or didn’t sweep the dust bunnies from under the kitchen table?   What’s the worst that will happen?   What if I opted for ice cream for supper instead of a salad?  What would my mother think?  Who cares? What if I don’t upda...

Theme Song of My Life...

Have you ever wondered if a movie was made about your life, what would the theme song be? Mine, would be “Raise a Little Hell” by Trooper (btw - a good ole Canadian band). For my 13 th birthday, I had a roller skating party at the local roller rink and my parents requested this song for me.    The lyrics were fitting for me then and who knew that they would stand the test of time.     What’s your theme? Take a listen…enjoy, and rock on!

What is Life?

Life is a gift, accept it. Life is an adventure, dare it. Life is a mystery, unfold it. Life is a game, play it. Life is a struggle, face it. Life is beauty, praise it. Life is a puzzle, solve it. Life is opportunity, take it. Life is sorrowful, experience it. Life is a song, sing it. Life is a goal, achieve it. Life is a mission, fulfill it.
