Random Thoughts…Strawberries, Snakes and Stuff

Yesterday was my anniversary (and J’s too of course). We have been married for 23 years or as J clarifies – we are going into our 23rd year of wedded bliss. We have actually been together for over 30 years. A lifetime it seems, but it’s been great and I’m looking forward to many, many more. Once a year, our corporate office hosts a strawberry social for the office and plant personnel. I’ve spent the last 3 hours preparing the strawberries for tomorrow – washing, hulling and cutting. I’ve was appointed “supervisor” thanks to my many years of strawberry processing plant experience which started around the time I turned 15. How you doin?

Wow, it’s Thursday already.   I guess that’s what you can expect when Monday is a holiday and then Tuesday was a “sick” day and Wednesday was a catch up day at work from my “sick” day and then suddenly Thursday is upon me and it’s also pay day!      Tomorrow is Friday and then it’s the weekend.   Oh Yeah!!! *insert random dancing here*   Thanksgiving with my dad was fantastic.   We had a great time visiting and the weather was beyond anything we can typically expect in Canada this time of year.     I certainly didn’t expect to be wearing shorts and t-shirts all weekend.   I actually had to shave my legs in October – wow!   As with any holiday, the downside is the extra tonnage that creeps upon my thighs while I’m sleeping.     I can’t explain it – I purposely avoided regular beer this weekend.     Could it possibly have been the multiple pieces of pumpkin pie with whipped cream?   Nahhh…...

Flowers, Snakes, Grape Jelly…It’s a Friggin Zoo…

When I was last with you, it was Thursday and now it is Wednesday.   Where did the week go?     So our weather here in Canada is still hit and miss – it’s been colder and wetter than usual and we seem to only be averaging 2 days of sunshine per week and these days usually occur during the week when I happen to be working.   Even with the poor weather, its lilac season here in the great white north.   Lilacs are one of my favorite flowers and the bonus – they grow wild all over the place, which allows me to pick bunches and bunches of them.   Unfortunately, they don’t last long but while they do, I enjoy every minute of their beautifulness.   There is a garter snake living in my flower garden.   I’m not enthused with this new resident, but I can’t seem to convince J to relocate him for me before he turns into a man eater.    So now, I’m forced to stomp, clomp and swing my shovel around like a wild woman before ...
