Office Not To-Do List...

Dear Co-Workers,   In an effort to save some time and frustration on both our parts (okay, mostly mine), I’m providing you in advance with this office etiquette list.   Don’t tell me to do something. If you ask, you will likely get a better response. If you tell me, it will likely go to the bottom of my priority list. Similarly, don’t tell me something is mandatory – especially meetings. I don’t do well with the whole “do it or else” mentality. Regardless of how old you are - if you are my co-worker, you shouldn’t be calling me “missy”. This missy gets mighty pissy when that happens.   Don’t ask me how my weekend was or how I’m doing if you’re not intending to listen to my response.   Don’t cut me off mid sentence. I appreciate your opinion regardless of what it is, so I would appreciate if you listened to mine.   Unless you want to see a very cranky person, kindly refrain from piling files on my chair when I’m out of my office. A Letter to Myself…Runaway With Me…

I’d love nothing more than to leave everything behind and runaway to somewhere far away, where responsibility and reality can’t find me.     Will you join me?   I'm not running from anything in particular.   I'm certainly not unhappy with my current life.    I'm very blessed and thankful for what I have.   It’s just that I yearn for something else, something different, something unknown.    Don't take it personally...   We were born with expectations placed upon us – school, marriage, career, children, retirement plans.     Why can’t society just leave us alone and let us be?   Let us be us, not the expectation of what we should be?   What happened to our dreams?   If I run, will you follow or will you just watch as I leave?   Are you too afraid of what we might find or too insecure to leave what you know?   “Let your mind start a journey ...

Open Letters....

To My Loving Husband, I am trying to say this in the kindest possible way, so please understand that I’m not trying to be harsh, but it just needs to be said – “Your effin aquarium hobby is expensive when the fish keep dying.   Perhaps next time, we should just flush a 100 dollar bill down the toilet because it’s the same damn thing, EXCEPT I won’t have to go to the fish store with you! “ Love, Your Supportive Wife  To The City Planning Department, Let me commend you on your outstanding work.  I can’t believe you have decided to install a roundabout as the only entrance/exit to the new Wal-Mart Superstore.   Obviously, you have never actually driven through a roundabout, nor have you shopped at Wal-Mart on a Saturday during the holiday season.  You might as well resign now because once the store opens and the accident lawsuits begin, you will become the scapegoats for poor planning....

The Art of Letter Writing...

I've been neglecting my letter writing of late, so here goes... My Dearest Husband, Soon, we will have been married for 21 years.  If you want to still be married in a year from now, may I suggest that you stop calling me grumpy? Hugs and Kisses S *********************************** My Sweetest Son, I understand that jobs are hard to find for students in this current economy, but you may need to consider selling a kidney because I am tired and poor from footing the bill for your prom expenses. Love, Mom ************************************** Dearest Mother-In-Law, I hope you appreciated the gift I made for your birthday.  I noticed you didn’t say thank you.  I’m assuming that you liked it when you asked for a matching necklace.  Oh and until I get a proper thank you, I’m holding off on buying you a mother’s day present. Yours truly, ...
